Our Story
Ed Korbyl founded Columbia Awards in Edmonton, Alberta in 1984, offering various awards and engraving services.
The company became a pioneer in laser engraving technology in 1986.
Shortly after that, they helped produce the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics by laser engraving all 147 official torch handles.
Industry Accolades
Columbia Awards has long been a leader in innovative award design. At a recent industry convention, the company earned six First Place design awards—winning every category it entered (there were seven categories in total). Soon after, Columbia Awards was invited to join the Recognition Roundtable, a prestigious group of experienced North American award dealers, becoming the first Canadian company to receive this honor.
Because of his laser experience, Richard Korbyl was a monthly contributor to the main laser engraving industry magazine (Awards & Engraving).
Trophy King
Trophy was created by Ed's son, Richard Korbyl. He saw a need for unique designs that didn't break budgets and he created TrophyKing.ca.
